Scope: Poster Design
“Be Water” premiered over the summer of 2020, and to mark the occasion of what would have been Lee’s 80th birthday in late November, Ho Chi Minh City–based Rice Studios was invited by director Bao Nguyen to created a series posters celebrating Bruce Lee and the film.
The design aims to create a sense of tension by using contrasting and opposing ideas — visually, culturally, and intellectually. A contrast between the iconic Enter the Dragon image of Bruce Lee, and a candid photo of him in San Francisco; the contrast between Bruce Lee the icon, and Bruce Lee the person.
